Mar 20, 2025 · Wendell Grissom was the first Oklahoman to receive the death penalty in 2025. Grissom died by lethal injection Thursday morning at the Oklahoma State Penitentiary in McAlester. He was pronounced dead at 10:13 a.m., according to media witnesses. Grissom, 56, had been on Oklahoma’s death row since he was charged with murder in 2008.
