On Jan. 1, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, unveiled a verified Instagram account with the handle @meghan and has amassed 1.4 million followers in the week since. After almost five years away from social media, a source says Meghan is "excited" to make her Instagram comeback, where she plans to spread "joy" and share updates on her latest projects.

Meghan Markle has returned to Instagram with a new personal account for the new year — seven years after ditching her personal pages ahead of her 2018 fairytale wedding to Prince Harry.

Markle’s return to Instagram comes almost five years after she and Harry made a final post on their joint page, @sussexroyal. “Thank you to this community — for the support, the inspiration and the shared commitment to the good in the world. Harry & Meghan,” the couple said in March 2020.
