The DJI Flip marks yet another entirely new airframe design from DJI. Sure, there have been size & weight changes, camera improvements, and extra features but – until the recent DJI Neo – the consumer category hasn't seen much other than incremental changes since the folding revolution – and that came in 2016 with the Mavic Pro.

The DJI Flip offers significantly longer battery life, providing up to 31 minutes of flight time. This extended duration allows for more creative flexibility and longer shooting sessions. The Neo has a shorter battery life, offering up to 18 minutes of flight time, which is more limiting but still sufficient for casual and beginner users.

DJI today released a new family of palm-sized drones for vlogging, called Flip, with a dedicated privacy mode and other features, starting at $439. Thanks to a feature called Local Data Mode, you can operate your Flip while disconnected from the internet so that all data stays on-device.

Another day, another major update from a company that might still be facing sanctions or a possible drone ban in the United States. But regardless of any pending sanctions, DJI is still hard at work churning out new drones and gear.
