Jota capped his return to the Celtic team with a goal in the closing seconds as Brendan Rodgers’ side won 3-1 at Motherwell. Rodgers had cautioned that the Portuguese winger would need time to build up his strength and fitness after returning to the club from Rennes on Monday.

Jota broke down in tears after scoring on his Celtic return in the Hoops' 3-1 away win against Motherwell. It was only 18 months ago that Jota left Celtic in a £25 million move to join Al-Ittihad. He spent a year there and if rumours are accurate then he earned multiple times more than he would have in Glasgow.

Jota says his goal-scoring Celtic return was "just like old times" and he sensed he would find the back of the net once he got off the bench. The Portuguese winger signed for Celtic for the second time in January having been sold to Al-Ittihad for a reported £25m in 2023,
