China retaliated immediately on Tuesday as a 10% U.S. tariff on Chinese goods went into effect, announcing its own levies of 10% to 15% on some U.S. products.

China on Tuesday said it is launching an investigation into Google over alleged antitrust violations and is imposing additional tariffs on certain US products, in a move that is seen as retaliatory to the US administration's levy of new duties on all Chinese goods.

China countered President Donald Trump's across-the-board tariffs on Chinese products with tariffs on select U.S. imports Tuesday, as well as announcing an antitrust investigation into Google and other trade measures.
