The Israeli military this week found and recovered the remains of Youssef Ziyadne, just days after his name appeared on a Hamas list of hostages to be released.

Israel has agreed on a ceasefire in Gaza 466 days after launching a full-scale war against Hamas. Arab and US mediators had been working towards brokering a deal to put an end to all Israeli attacks and secure the release of scores of hostages still held in the besieged territory.

Palestinians and family members of hostages who were killed in captivity have been imploring the Israeli government and world leaders for a ceasefire deal.

Noting that Youssef was a "true hero" on Oct. 7, Rabbi Aharon Ariel Lavi said, "We stand here in solidarity to affirm that there is another path."

Hamzah AlZaydani's body was retrieved with that of his father, Yosef AlZaydani, who were taken together by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.

"We stand here in solidarity to affirm that there is another path—a path of peace and cooperation between Jews and Muslims," said Rabbi Aharon Ariel Lavi, who led the delegation.

This program aims to enhance the professional skills of educators from the Bedouin community in the Negev and is the first of its kind in Israel.

Israel’s army has confirmed that one of the bodies recovered from Gaza earlier this week was that of 23-year-old hostage Hamzah AlZayadni.

The remains of Ziyadne and his father, Youssef, were recovered by the IDF from a tunnel in Rafah, southern Gaza.
