Ex-Staten Island resident Arthur Kaliyev made his first major contribution as a member of the New York Rangers when the right wing scored a game-tying goal during a 5-3 victory over the Utah Hockey Club Thursday at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

The boxing-out issues continued against Utah. A minute into the game, Utah’s Ian Cole fired a point shot tipped by teammate Barrett Hayton. Igor Shesterkin made the initial stop, but Matias Maccelli got away from K’Andre Miller and buried the rebound.

Before joining the New York Rangers, Arthur Kaliyev had not played in an NHL game since April of 2023. During training camp with the Los Angeles Kings before the start of this season, Kaliyev suffered a fractured clavicle, which sidelined him for multiple weeks.

Kaliyev scored a goal on two shots and added two PIM in Thursday's 5-3 win over Utah.

Artemi Panarin had two goals, including an empty-netter, as the Rangers (4-0-2) extended their point streak to six games.

At the end of the 2024-25 regular season, this three-game road trip could be a difference-maker for the Rangers.

Arthur Kaliyev is making his mark with the Rangers, using his offensive skill, puck possession strengths, and ability to complement New York’s top talent.
