Cubs DFA pitching prospect Michael Arias to make Colin Rea's signing official
In order to make right-hander Colin Rea’s signing official Monday, the Cubs designated pitching prospect Michael Arias for assignment. Rea’s one-year deal is worth $5 million, a source confirmed, and it includes a club option for 2026.
The 34-year-old Rea has a $4.25 million salary for 2025, and the deal includes a $6 million club option for 2026 with a $750,000 buyout. The team announced the agreement on Monday.
