Coming out of college as an undrafted free agent in 2017, he signed with the Red Wings’ AHL affiliate in Grand Rapids. He’s been a mainstay there for the Griffins ever since: playing 462 regular season games, and 19 more in the playoffs. For years, he’s been through training camps and preseasons with the team — right there on the doorstep.

Lightning’s Lilleberg suspended for hit on Red Wings' Compher
Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Emil Lilleberg has been suspended for two games by the NHL for a hit on Detroit Red Wings center J.T. Compher during the second period on Saturday. Compher finished the game but is experiencing some issues since. He is out for tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Kings and perhaps longer.
