A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is set to launch a pair of lunar landers on a journey to our closest celestial neighbor — kicking off what’s expected to be a bustling year of moon missions amid a renewed race to establish a long-term human presence on the lunar surface.

A SpaceX rocket set to launch overnight will carry two lunar landers, one from Austin-based Firefly Aerospace and one from Japan’s ispace.

The latest SpaceX rideshare mission Jan. 14 deployed satellites ranging from dozens of imaging satellites to reentry vehicles, tugs and even a “selfie sat.”
