A striking Tesla Cybertruck which is illegal to drive in the UK due to safety concerns has been seized by police in Greater Manchester. Officers spotted the eye-catching vehicle, which carries a price tag of about £48,000, in Whitefield, Bury, and stopped the driver on Thursday night.
“The Tesla Cybertruck is not road legal in the UK and does not hold a certificate of conformity,” the police explained. “Whilst this may seem trivial to some, legitimate concerns exist around the safety of other road users or pedestrians if they were involved in a collision with a Cybertruck.”
Cybertruck emerged as the bestselling electric pickup in the U.S. over Q2 2024 as production ramped up and the company focused on fulfilling the backlog of orders.

The Tesla Cybertruck is illegal to drive on UK roads, Bury Police force pointed out, and the seized vehicle had been registered and insured abroad.
Bury Police in Greater Manchester confirmed that it has taken possession of a Tesla Cybertruck that was previously registered and imported from the U.S, under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act. The law allows the authorities to seize a vehicle if legal documentation and/or proof of ownership cannot be provided.
