Donkey Kong Country Returns' was one of the very best games on the Nintendo Wii, and now it's back and better than ever on the Switch.

What truly caught my attention, however, is the one feature that I want to see on all upcoming consoles: backwards compatibility. Right off the bat, Nintendo announced that original Nintendo Switch games would work on the Switch 2 — and that includes both digital and physical games.

This week during the Switch 2 reveal, Nintendo reconfirmed backwards compatibility with the original system. If you're curious to know the reasoning behind this feature, Game File's Stephen Totilo got a response from a Nintendo representative - explaining how it was simply the "best direction" when the Switch was already played by "many consumers".

After months of speculation, Nintendo finally confirmed the Switch 2 this week with a teaser video that featured a hardware sneak peek. We got a brief glimpse at the next Mario Kart, but details about launch titles aren't expected until later this year.
