Nov 5, 2024 · Separate question: I will be purchasing a new monitor within a few months and prefer to use the HDMI port on the Mini versus taking up a thunderbolt port. Am I correct the HDMI will support up to 4K, but I would need to use a Thunderbolt port if going to a higher resolution that 4K? Mac mini M4 supports HDMI 8K. Per the tech specs:

Nov 23, 2024 · All of the USB-C ports on a M4 Mac Mini or M4 Pro Mac mini - front or back - should support USB 3 devices. The rear-panel USB-C ports are the only ones that also support USB4, DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt. So normally the issue would be that you tried to plug something into a front-panel port that needs a protocol only available in the back.

I need to know if two network connections can be used simultaneously, one connection through the Ethernet port, one through an USB-C to Ethernet adapter. Anyone know for sure? Dec 21, 2024 · I received Mac mini with M4Pro chip today. I use iStat to monitor temperature and fan RPM. I found that the fan stopped for a very short time and then immediately ran at high RPM and then returned to 1000 RPM. The whole cycle happened in less than 1 second. This regularly happened around 5-10 minutes.

Dec 3, 2020 · mac mini bluetooth connectivity 2021 Continued issues with Bluetooth and Mac mini M1. Connections intermittently drop. New keyboard, new mouse. No change in local hardware or network. Extremely frustrating for a +$1,000 device. Tired of the "try this, try that". It needs to work out of the box. Period. Apple - fix this. Or take back my Mac Mini.

If you have multiple USB devices like external drives or use your Mac to charge other devices, then it is best to get a Self-Powered USB 3.0 Hub that has is own power supply.

Jan 8, 2021 · When I wake my Mac mini M1 (Big Sur 11.1) up, the ethernet connection doesn't work. It appears to be online (shows the previously assigned DHCP address, and has a green dot next to it in the system preferences), but doesn't work. Tried turning it off and on again - shows an amber dot with 'self assigned IP'. Wifi works as usual.
