May 3, 2018 · Also back in the 80’s and prior, UCLA was more known for sports (especially basketball) than academics compared to UC Berkeley. It is quite an accomplishment the past couple of decades that UCLA’s academic reputation has ascended to be about on par with UC Berkeley. Today, UCLA is still known for good sport programs.

Jun 11, 2008 · Berkeley is the hardest, then UCLA. </p> <p>As I wrote in post #1, UCLA and Berkeley appear to evaluate an applicant using the same procedures and judgements used at any Top 30 program… not a formula, but an aggregation of impressions from reviewing the entire file – the entire file includes a look at 9th grade performance.</p>

Since money isn’t an issue, let’s focus on academics…you can get a great education either place, but Cornell has smaller classes, less GE’s.

However, it was for ICAM (visual arts) which required an art portfolio for admission so his portfolio probably and act probably offset the lower gpa. Also got accepted to UCSC in comp sci and rejected from Uci CS and rejected from Ucla DMA (visual arts with port requirement)
